Welcome to Shifa Healthcare & Community Services, a beacon of hope and healing in the Greater Houston Area since 2002. Founded by a group of compassionate medical professionals and visionary project managers.
Shifa Healthcare and Community Services USA (Shifa USA) is dedicated to delivering accessible healthcare and essential social support services, both cost-free and at reduced rates, to those in need on a scalable basis.
Shifa’s commitment is to establish benchmarks of excellence in the provision of selected healthcare services, healthcare delivery systems, and social support services, spanning local, state, and national levels.
At Shifa USA, we place a strong emphasis on volunteerism and the delivery of volunteer services with unparalleled dedication. We actively collaborate with partner entities and organizations to ensure the provision of necessary services, while also facilitating opportunities for affiliates and subsidiaries in the realms of research, education, service delivery, and associated commercial initiatives, all aimed at benefiting the broader community.

Our mission is to provide equitable healthcare and social services to all. We focus on holistic health, including medical check-ups, preventive care, mental health support, and education.

The basis of Shifa USA traces back to 1997 when ten selfless, passionate volunteers decided to uplift the underprivileged. At that time, Shifa USA was operating under the guidance of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston ( ISGH). Initially, we provided free medical camps, computer literacy classes, and legal consultations on weekends, operating in a small room in Southwest Houston.
As time passed, the efforts of the Islamic Society of Greater Houston were acknowledged by the IRS. With time, we separated Islamic services from health and social services and incorporated them into the Houston Shifa Services Foundation (HSSF). Over the following decade, HSSF kept serving the people, solidifying its commitment to the community.
In 2007, the City of Houston granted HSSF $3.6 million to build two low-income housing projects with the assistance of Integrated Real Estate Group. As HSSF faced increased concerns about medical liability, they separated their government-funded housing activities from their social services.
This decision created Shifa Healthcare and Community Service USA (Shifa USA), a tax-exempt charitable organization. In 2012, HSSF officially transferred all its healthcare and social service operations to Shifa USA. This restructuring allowed them to manage their healthcare services and government-funded housing projects independently.
